Chemical reaction involved is:

CaCO; → CaO+CO

Molar mass of CaCO3 = 40 + 12 + 16 × 3 =

100 g

According to the balanced reaction 100 g of CaCO3 produces 1 mol of CO₂ i.e. 22.4 L at STP.

.. 50 g CaCO3 will produce 22.4/ 100 x 50 =

11.2 L CO₂ at STP.

hope it helps you

22 grams of carbon dioxide will be obtained.

  • The decomposition reaction of calcium carbonate is - CaCO3 --> CaO + CO2.
  • Here, we can we 1 mole of calcium carbonate produces 1 mole of carbon dioxide.
  • 1 mole of calcium carbonate has mass 100 gram and 1 mole of carbon dioxide has mass 44 gram.
  • Number of moles of calcium carbonate with mass 50 gram is 0.5.
  • So, 0.5 moles of calcium carbonate will release 0.5 moles of carbon dioxide.
  • 0.5 moles of carbon dioxide will have mass 22 grams.
