Calculate the mass of carbon present in 1g of calcium carbonate

CaCO3

atomic mass of

ca = 40

C = 12

O = 16

molecular mass of CaCO3

= 40+12+3×16

= 100u

so 1 mol of CaCO3 will be 100g

and 1mol of carbon will be 12g

so mass of C in 100g will be 12g

then in 1kg(1000g) mass of carbon will be 120g

Hence the mass of carbon will be 120g
