calculate the mass of copper metal produced during the passage of 2.5 A of current through a solution of copper sulphate for 40 min .molar mass of copper is 63.5​

Given:

 

I = 2.5 A

 

t = 100 min

 

 = 40× 60

 

 = 2400 sec

 

The reaction is,

 

Cu2+ +  2e− →  Cu

 

We know,

 

Q = It

 

   = 2.5 × 2400

 

   = 6000 C

 

As 2×96500 C requires to deposite 63.5 gm of Cu

So, 6000 C will give,

6000*63.5/2*96500

=1.97409gm
