Molar mass of water =H2O=1×2+16=18g/mol

Mass contributed by oxygen= 16g
Mass contributed by hydrogen =2g
Percentage of hydrogen =mass of hydrogen /molar mass of water=2/18=1/9 ×100= 0.11×100=11%
Percentage of oxygen =mass of oxygen/mass of water ×100= 16/18=0.88×100=88%

hello buddy, here's ur answer

Mass percentage of each element present in water is given by

Lets the mass of any element be X

and molecular mass be XH20

and the mass percentage of an element M(X) is given by

M(X)% = M×100/X+ 18

since molecular weight of H20 IS 18

HENCE ,,,

MASS percentage of any element is given by

= M × 100/ X+18

Mass% of H = 2×1/18×100

Mass%H=11.1%

Mass of O= 16/18×100

Mass of O = 88.8%
