Given :

  • Mass of sugar = 30g
  • Mass of water = 150g

To find :

mass percentage

Formula used :

Mass percentage = (Mass of Solute ÷ mass of Solution) × 100

SOLUTION :

Mass of solution = mass of sugar + mass of water

Mass of solution = 30g + 150g

Mass of solution = 180g

Mass percentage of sugar = mass of sugar × 100 ÷ mass of solution

Mass percentage of sugar = 30 × 100 ÷ 180

Mass percentage of sugar = 3000 ÷ 180

Mass percentage of sugar = 100 ÷ 6

Mass percentage of sugar = 16.67 %

Mass percentage of water = Mass of water × 100 ÷ mass of solution

Mass percentage of water = 150 × 100 ÷ 180

Mass percentage of water = 15000 ÷ 180

Mass percentage of water = 500 ÷ 6

Mass percentage of water = 83.33%

ANSWER :

Mass percentage of sugar = 16.67%

Mass percentage of water = 83.33%
