We have to find the maximum current (Ic) that can be carried by a superconducting ring of diameter 5cm. the critical magnetic field (Hc) of materials is 1.0 T.

solution : using formula,

Ic = 2πrHc

here , diameter = 2r = 5 cm = 0.05 m

⇒r = 0.025 m

Hc = 1.0 T

now, Ic = 2 × 3.14 × 0.025 × 1.0

= 6.28 × 0.025

= 0.15625 A

Therefore the maximum current that can be carried by the superconducting ring is 0.15625 A.
