Given,

Marks          Number of students

0-10                 5

10-20              15

20-30             30

30-40              8

40-50              2

To find,

We have to find the median of the given data.

Solution,

The median of the given data is 23.33.

We can simply find the median of the given data by using the formula of the median of the grouped data,

Median = l + (n/2 -cf)/f * h

Marks          Number of students          cf

0-10                 5                                    5

10-20              15                                  20

20-30             30                                  50

30-40              8                                   58

40-50              2                                   60

  n/2 = 30 , cf =  20, f = 30, l = 20, h = 10

Median = 20 + (30-20)/30 * 10

            = 20 +10/3

            = 20 +3.33

            = 23.33

Hence, the median of the given grouped data is 23.33.
