Heya...

Ascending order= 144,145,147,148,149,150,152,155,160

n=9 (odd)
Median =[n+1 /2]th observation

=[9+1 /2]th observation
=10/2
=5th observation
=149

So, Median= 194

Hi there!

What is Median?

After arranging the given data in the ascending or descending order of magnitude, the value of the middle most observation, is called the median of the data.

Formula to find the median :)

Method : Arrange the data in increasing or decreasing order of magnitude. Let the total number of observation be n.

(i) If n is odd, then median

⇒ Value of \mathsf{( \frac{n + 1}{2} )\th} observation.

(ii) If n is even, then median

⇒ mean of \mathsf{( \frac{n}{2} )\th} and \mathsf{( \frac{n}{2} + 1 )\th} observations.

\huge{\mathcal{Solution :}}

Arranging the data in ascending order, we get :

144,145,147,148,149,150,152,155,160

Here, n = 9 [even]

(i) If n is odd, then median

⇒ Value of \mathsf{( \frac{n + 1}{2} )\th} observation.

⇒ Value of \mathsf{( \frac{9 + 1}{2} )\th} observation.

⇒ Value of \mathsf{( \frac{10}{2} )\th} observation.

⇒ Value of 5th term.

Hence, the value of 5th term is 149.
