Hi,

Here is your answer

Given:

Mass of NaOH=6g

Volume of solution =500ml=0.5L

To Find:

Molarity of the solution

Solution:

Molarity is given by the equation

Molarity=No of moles of NaOH/Volume of solution in L

Molar mass of NaOH=23+16+1=40g/mol

No of moles of NaOH=Given mass/Molar mass

                                    =6g/40g/mol

                                    =0.15 mol

Substitute the given datas in the equation for molarity

We get,

Molarity=0.15mol/0.5L

Molarity=0.3mol/L

Notes:

1.The equation for molarity is given by

Molarity=Number of moles of solute/Volume of solution in litres

2.The unit of molarity is either M or mol/L

3. Since the molarity depends on volume of solution in litres, care should be taken to convert the unit of solution to litres.

Hope this helps you.
