Given :

We are given the atomic numbers of -

  • Mg as 24
  • N as 14
  • C as 12
  • H as 1
  • O as 16
  • Na as 23

To find :

  • Molecular mass of \sf\:Mg_{3}N_{2} and \sf\:CH_{3}COONa

Solution :

1) \sf\:Mg_{3}N_{2}

Substituting the atomic mass of Mg and N

\sf\to\:(24)_{3} + (14)_{2}

\sf\to\:(24 \times 3) + (14 \times 2)

\sf\to\:72+ 28

\small{\mathfrak{\to\:100~gram~moles}}

2) \sf\:CH_{3}COONa

Substituting the atomic mass of C , H , O and Na

\sf\to\:12 + (1)_{3} + 12 + 16 + 16 + 23

\sf\to\:12 + (1 \times 3) + 12 + 16 + 16 + 23

\sf\to\:12 + 3 + 12 + 16 + 16 + 23

\sf\to\:15 + 12 + 16 + 16 + 23

\sf\to\:27+ 16 + 16 + 23

\sf\to\:43+ 16 + 23

\sf\to\:59+ 23

\small{\mathfrak{\to\:82~gram~moles}}

\sf\:How~ to~ find~ molecular ~mass ~?

➻ We would be given a molecule for which we need to calculate molecular mass.

➻ Using the periodic table we may know their atomic mass.

➻ After substituting the atomic mass we need to multiply it with no of atoms of the element in the molecules.

➻ Finally adding the values we would end up getting the molecular mass of the molecule.
