Atomic mass of hydrogen = 1u

                         oxygen = 16u

Water is composed of 2 hydrogen and one oxygen (H2O)

So molecular mass of water = (2 X 1) + (1 X 16)

                                               = 2 + 16

                                               = 18u

So molecular mass of water is 18u
