Explanation:

First we find out the resistance of the central square.

on the top the resistance is in series So Rs1= 4+4+4=12 ohms

at the bottom of the square again its in series

so Rs2=2+2+2 =6 ohms

now the central 4 ohms is in parallel with Rs1 and Rs2

so 1/Rp=1/6+1/12+1/4=1/2 ohms

therefore Rp=2 ohms

now 5 ohms 6 ohms and Rp are in series

so R final=5+6+2= 13 ohms which is your answer!
