Answer:

Explanation:

To solve this problem, you need to know the formula for sodium carbonate. Once you realize there are two sodium ions per carbonate ion, the problem is simple:

N=0.321gNa2CO3×(1mol/105.99g)×(2eq/1mol)

N=0.1886eq/0.2500L

N = 0.0755 N

The normality of the solution is 0.024N

GIVEN

Weight of Sodium Carbonate = 0.321 grams

Volume of solution = 250 ml

TO FIND

Normality of the Na₂CO₃

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We know that,

Normality = Number of gram equivalent/Volume of solution.

Gram equivalent of Na₂CO₃ = Molar mass/n-factor

= 106/2

= 53

Volume of solution = 250 ml = 0.25 l

Putting the above values in the Normality formula;

N = 53/0.25

= 0.024 N

Hence, The normality of the solution is 0.024N
