Answer:

Av- 6.022 X 10²³

1 mol of K (potassium ) - (2 X Av)

[1 mol of P = molar mass of K ]

there for 1 g of P = (B.OX Av) / (molar mass of K)

so, 0.551g of p = 0.551 (1 X Av) /(molar mass of K)

= 8.50 X 10²¹ atoms.

Hence, 0.551g of K have 8.50 X 10²¹ atoms.

Number of atoms in 0.551g of potassium is -

8.50 \times  {10}^{21} atoms

GIVEN

Weight of potassium = 0.551 grams.

TO FIND

Number of atoms in given weight of potassium.

SOLUTION

We can simply some the above problem as follows.

we know,

Molar mass of potassium = 39.10 grams

so, 1 mole of potassium = 39.10 grams

we know that Number of atoms in one mole of substance = Avogadro number =

6.022 \times  {10}^{23}  {mole}^{ - 1}

so,

39.01 \: grams = 6.022 \times  {10}^{23} atoms

so, 0.551 grams grams of potassium will contain-

 \frac{6.022 \times  {10}^{23} \times 0.551 }{39.10}

=

8.50 \times  {10}^{21} atoms
