Solutions

Answer :

Molarity of solution = 0.1M

  • 1 decimolar = 1/10 molar

Temperature = 27°C

We have to find osmotic pressure of the solution .

★ The minimum excess pressure that has to be applied on the solution to prevent the entry of the solvent into the solution through the semipermeable membrane is called osmotic pressure.

  • π = CRT

π denotes osmotic pressure

C denotes conc. of the solution

R denotes gas constant

T denotes temperature

Conversion :

  • K = °C + 273

∴ T(K) = 27 + 273 = 300K

Calculation :

➠ π = CRT

  • R = 0.082 atm L/mol K

➠ π = 0.1 × 0.082 × 300

π = 2.46 atm

Cheers!
