Calculate the percentage composition of 18 gram sample of water with contains 2g of hydrogen and 16g of oxygen

Mass percent of oxygen = \frac{16}{18} × 100 = 88.9%

Mass percent of hydrogen = \frac{2}{18} × 100 = 11.1%

totally it must be 100

Adding 88.9 and 11.1 = 100
