Hey there !

Solution:

1. Ammonia = NH₃

Number of Hydrogen atoms = 3

Total Number of Atoms = 3 + 1 = 4

Percentage Composition:

  • Number of Hydrogen atoms / Total Atoms * 100

=> Percentage of Hydrogen = ( 3 / 4 ) * 100

=> Percentage of Hydrogen = 0.75 * 100 = 75 %

Hence the percentage of Hydrogen atoms in Ammonia is 75%.

2. Ethanol = C₂H₆O

=> Number of hydrogen = 6 atoms

=> Total Number of atoms = 2 + 6 + 1 = 9

=> Percentage Composition:

  • Number of Hydrogen Atoms / Total Atoms * 100

=> Percentage Composition = ( 6 / 9 ) * 100

=> Percentage Composition = 0.67 * 100 = 67%

Hence the percentage composition of Hydrogen in Ethanol is 67%.
