Calculate the percentage composition of water of crystallization in magnesium nitrate crystals i.e magnesium nitrate hexahydrate. (At wt: Mg=24; N=14; O=16; H= 1) write your answer without space till two decimal point.

Given,

Compound Name = Mg(NO₃)₂.6H₂O

Molecular mass of Mg = 24 g, N = 14 g, O = 16 g, H = 1 g.

Molar Mass = 24+[2(14+48)]+(6*18) g

= 24+[2*62]+108 g

= 24+124+108 g

= 256 g

Percentage Composition of Water in Magnesium Nitrate Hexahydrate = (108/256)*100 %

= 42.18%
