Given,

Concentration of acetic acid, c = 1.0 M

Acid dissociation constant, Kₐ = 1.8 × 10⁻⁵

Formula to calculate pH of a solution is given by,

pH = -log( \sqrt{c × Kₐ} )

Therefore,

pH of 1.0 M acetic acid = -log( \sqrt{1.0 × 1.8 × 10⁻⁵} )

                                      = -log(0.004)

                                      = - ( -2.37 )

                                      = 2.37
