Answer :

Mass of body = 10kg

Gravitation acceleration = 10m/s²

We have to find potential energy of body

  • at a height of 3m
  • at a height of 7m

Potential energy of body is defined as the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position.

  • It is a scalar quantity having only magnitude.
  • SI unit : J

Potential energy of body of mass m at a height h is given by : U = m × g × H

⧪ At a height of 3m :

➠ U = m × g × H

➠ U = 10 × 10 × 3

U = 300 J ___ (I)

⧪ At a height of 7m :

➠ U' = m × g × H'

➠ U' = 10 × 10 × 7

U' = 700 J ___ (II)
