Answer:

Given –

  • Converging lens (Convex lens)
  • Image distance = 50 cm
  • Object Distance = -100 cm

To Find –

  • Power of the lens

Solution –

Lens Formula : 1/v - 1/u = 1/f.

Substituting the values,

➸ 1/-100 - 1/50 = 1/f

➸ -1/100 - 1/50 = 1/f

➸ (-50 - 100)/5000 = 1/f

➸ -150/5000 = 1/f

➸ 1/f = -15/500

➸ 1/f = -3/100

➸ 1/f = -0.03

➸ f = 1/-0.03

➸ f = -33.33 cm

Power of the lens = P = 1/f.

➸ P = 1/-33.33

➸ P = -0.03 D

Focal length of the lens is -33.33 cm and Power of the lens is 0.03 D.
