Let us assume, the present age of father is x years and present age of son is y years.
Given:
x = 6y -------------1
x + 20 = 2 (y + 20)
x + 20 = 2y + 40
x - 2y = 20 ------------2
Substitute the value of x from equation 1 in equation 2
6y - 2y = 20
4y = 20
y = 5 years
Therefore, x = 6 * y = 6 * 5 = 30 years.
The present age of father is 30 years.
