To calculate the pressure it is important to know what pressure is. Pressure is a kind of force acting on a particular surface. In terms of quantity it is scalar in nature as it acts with a particular magnitude on the surface having the S.I. unit as Pascal.

  • The formula for calculating pressure is : d*g*h
  • where d= density of the fluid
  • fluids can be defined as both liquids and gases
  • g = gravity
  • h= height

Given:

  1. d= 800kg/m3
  2. g= 10 m/2
  3. h= 10 cm = 0.1 m ( convert into meters by dividing it by 100 as all others are in meters)

Solution:

Pressure = 800*10*0.1

= 800 Pa
