Answer :

➥ The pressure on its base = 2450 N/m²

Given :

➤ Force exerted by a wooden block = 49 N

➤ Dimensions of a wooden block = 20 cm by 10 cm

To Find :

➤ Pressure exerted by a wooden block (P) = ?

Required Solution :

In the above question given that force exerted by a wooden block is 49 N and dimensions of a wooden block is 20 cm by 10 cm that means length is 20 cm and it's breadth is 10 cm.

To find the pressure exerted by a wooden block, first we will need to convert the length and breadth of a wooden block cm into m, then after we will the find the Pressure exerted by a wooden block.

◈ Length = 20 cm

→ Length = 20/100

→ Length = 0.2 m

◈ Breadth = 10 cm

→ Breadth = 1/100

→ Breadth = 0.1 m

Now ,

We will find the area of a wooden block by using the formula of area which days Area = l × b.

Here,

  • l is the length in m.
  • b is the base in m.

As we know that

⇛ Area = length × breadth

⇛ Area = l × b

⇛ Area = 0.2 × 0.1

Area = 0.02 m²

Now, we have area of wooden block and force acting upon it's.

  • Area of a wooden block = 0.02 m²
  • Force exerted by a wooden block = 49 N

We will find the pressure exerted by a wooden block by the using the formula of pressure which says P = F/A.

Here,

  • P is the pressure in N/m².
  • F is the force in N.
  • A is the area in m².

✎ So let's find the pressure exerted by a wooden block (P) !

\tt{:\implies Pressure = \dfrac{Force}{Area}}

\tt{:\implies Pressure =  \cancel{\dfrac{49}{0.02}}}

\bf{:\implies \underline{ \:  \:  \underline{ \red{ \:  \: Pressure = 2450 \: N/m^2 \:  \: }} \:  \: }}

Hence, the pressure exerted by a wooden block is 2450 N/m².
