Calculate the pressure exerted by a brick, which applies a force of 2.5 N, when (a) it is placed upright on the soil, (b) when it is placed on it's widest base. The dimensions of the brik are 25 cm * 10cm * 5cm.

Please give right answer I spend my all points.

(a). When the brik is placed up right:

Area in contact with soil

 =  \frac{10}{100} m \times  \frac{5}{100} m \times 0.005 {m}^{2}

therefore Pressure exerted

 =  \frac{f}{a}  =  \frac{2.5n}{0.005 {m}^{2} }  = 500pa

(b). When the brick is placed on it's widest base:

Area in contact with soil

 = 25cm \:  \times  \: 10cm

 =  \frac{25}{100} m \times  \frac{10}{100} m = 0.025 {m}^{2}

therefore Pressure exerted

 =  \frac{f}{a}  =  \frac{2.5n}{0.25 {m}^{2} }  = 100pa
