b. vertically with area 0.01m square
c. is the pressure by the block is same in both the cases ? why?

weight =force =f= 100n

horizontally with area =a1= 0.1m

vertically with area = a2 = 0.01m

then pressure of horizontal area is given by

p=f/a1.

p= 100/0.1= 1000

p=f/a2.

p=100/0.01=10000

the pressure in both cases is not the same
