Given:

A boy standing on both feet if the force applied  his body is 400 N. (Assume that the area of contact of each shoe is 6 cm by 25 cm).

To Find:

What is the pressure exerted on floor by both feet?

Solution:

Weight of boy = Load = W = 400 N

Area of each feet = 6×25 = 150 cm²= 0.015 m²

Area of both feet = 2×0.015 = 0.03 m²

We know the formula of pressure in terms of force and area:

\mathbf{Pressure= \dfrac{Load}{Area}}

\mathbf{Pressure= \dfrac{400}{0.03}}

On simplify:

Pressure = 13333.33 Pa

Means the pressure exerted on the floor by a boy standing on both feet is 13333.33 Pascal.
