Ratio of number of atoms in water molecule is - 2:1.

Atoms are Individual entities comprising of proton, electron and neutrons. Molecules are combined atoms, which may or may not be of same type.

Water molecule contains two atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of oxygen. Oxygen has electronic configuration of 2,6. It requires two electrons to complete it's octet, which are provided by two atoms of hydrogen by covalent bonding.

Answer:

The ratio in the no.of atom in water  is 2:1

Explanation

as the mass ratio is given as 1:8

now dividing it by its molar mass

molar mass of H2=2

molar mass of O2=32

mole ratio is 1/2 : 8/32

mole ratio is = 2:1

mole x avagadro number is no.of atom:

so,

2 x 6.022 x 10^23 : 6.022 x 10^23

by cancelling 6.022 x 10^23 both sides

We get 2:1 ratio for the no.of atoms
