Calculate the resistance of a 1km long aluminium wire of diameter 5mm. Find resistance of the wire made of nichrome of same length and diameter also. (Resistivity of aluminium is 28×10-8 Ωm; Resistivity of nichrome is 100×10-6 Ωm)

Answer:

Explanation:

To calculate the resistance of the wire we need the data

1km=1000m

And 5mm=5*10^(-3)

And resistivity of nichrome is 100*10^-6 ohm m

Thus we know that resistance of a substance is resistivity per unit area multiplied by length

Now resistence(R)=[(100*10^-6)*1000]/(pie*r^2)

Hence resistence(R)=0.1/(3.14*5*10^-3)

Resistence (R)=6.36ohm

Thus now we know that the resistance of nichrome is 6.36 ohm ..

We used the same length and diameter because it is given in the qustn that all the values are same as that of aluminium hence used the same
