m=molar mass of Nitrogen=28 gm./mol =2.8 x 10 ⁻² kg/mol
Temperature=T=273 +27 =300K
R=gas constant=8.314 joules/.mol K
To calculate RMS speed :
Formula:
μ=√3RT/M
=√(3*8.314*300)/(2.8x10⁻²)
=√267235.7
=516.9m/s
∴RMS of Nitrigen gas at 27 °c is 516.9m/s

•The rms speed of He atoms is calculated by the formula vrms= √(3kT/m) = √(3RT/m)
Where, vrms is the root mean square of the velocity,
k is Boltzmann constant,
m is the molar mass of the gas,
R is the universal gas constant, and
T is the temperature.
•molar mass of He atoms, m= 4.002/10³ kg/mol
•Temperature, T= 273+27 = 300K
•Gas constant, R= 8.314 J/mol.K
•So, vrms is given as
vrms= √[(3x8.314x300)/(4.002/10³)]
= 2159 m/s.
