Given,

Diameter of round bar = 150 mm

To find,

The side of the largest square that can be obtained by milling that round bar to a square bar.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

The largest possible square will have the length of each diagonal equal to the length of the diameter of the initial circle.

So, length of diagonal of the square piece = 150mm

Let, the length of the each side of the square piece = a mm

Length of diagonal = a√2 mm

Now,

a√2 = 150

a = 150/√2

a = 106.06mm (approx)

Hence, the length of the side will be approximately 106.06 mm

Answer:

diagonal of square = Diameter of circle

Side of square * root2 = 20

Side of square = 10 root 2

Area of square = (10 root2)^2

= 100*2

= 200 cm^2

Hope it will help you..
