Question:-

Calculate the solubility in mol/dm³ of 40g of CuSo4 dissolved in 100g of water at 120°c?

Answer:-

Mole= mass/molar mass

Molar mass of CuSO4=(64×1)+(32×1)+(16×4)

Molar mass of CuSO4=160g/mol

mole= mass /molar mass

Mole=40g/160g/mol

Mole=0.25mol

0.25mol of CuSO4 was dissolved in 100g of water at 120°C

xmol of CuSO4 dissolved in 1000cm³ of water at 120

x=0.25×1000/100

x=2.50

Solubility= number of moles of solution/volume of solution
100 g of water= 100 cm^3 = 0.1 dm^3
CuSO4= 160g/mol
No. of moles in CuSO4 in 40g = 40/160 = 0.25 mol
Solubility= 0.25/0.1 = 2.5 mol/dm^3
