Given :

  • Distance covered by bus = 480 km
  • Time taken by bus to cover given distance= 8 hours

To find :

Speed of bus

Formula used :

Speed = Distance traveled÷ Time taken

Solution :

\sf \implies\:Speed \: =  \:  \dfrac{480 \: km}{8 \: h}

\sf \implies\:Speed \: =  \:  60\: km /h

Converting, km/h into m/s

We know that,

  • 1km = 1000 m
  • 1hr = 60 minutes
  • 1 minute = 60second

Therefore,

1 hour = 60 minutes × 60 second/minutes

1 hour = 3600 seconds

\sf \implies\:\:Speed \: =  \:  60 \dfrac{km}{h}  \:   = \: 60 \times  \dfrac{1000m}{3600s}

\sf \implies\:\:Speed \: =   \:  \dfrac{1000m}{60s}

\sf \implies\:\:Speed \: = \: 16.67 \: m/s

ANSWER :

Speed of bus = 60 km/h = 16.67 m/s
