Calculate the speed of light in the following materials:

(i) ice (μ = 1.31)

(ii) diamond (μ = 2.42)

{\large{\underbrace{\underline{\bf{Answer:-}}}}}  \\

Speed of light in vacuum is 3 × 10⁸

i) Speed of light in ice = \frac{Speed \: of \: light \: in \: vacuum}{Refractive \: index \: of \: ice}

                                    = \frac{(3)(10⁸)}{1.31}

                               = 2.29 × 10⁸ m/s

ii) Speed of light in diamond = \frac{Speed \: of \: light \: in \: vacuum}{Refractive \: index \: of \: diamond}

                                        = \frac{(3)(10⁸)}{2.42}

                                   = 1.24 × 10⁸ m/s

Hope this helps uh! ♡
