Calculate the time a body takes to return to its original position when thrown vertically upward with a velocity of 30 m/s.​

6 seconds.

According to the question the body is thrown vertically upwards with velocity u=30m/s

now when the body attains maximum height its final velocity will become zero i.e v=0

we know that according to Newton's laws of motion

v=u+at=> 0=30+(-10)(t) assuming g≈10m/s²

-30/-10=t

t=3s but this is the time taken to reach maximum height to calculate the time taken for the body to return we must double it.

i.e T=2t=6s
