Given :
Mass of substance = 20g
To Find :
Amount of energy associated with the substance.
Solution :
★ According to Albert Einstein, mass and energy are inter-convertible.
In 1905, be established the mass energy equivalence.
The energy associated with mass m is given by E = mc²
Where c is the speed of light in vacuum
As mass can be converted into energy, so in law of conservation of energy, we include mass also
➠ E = mc²
➠ E = 20 × (3 × 10⁸)²
➠ E = 20 × 9 × 10¹⁶
➠ E = 180 × 10¹⁶
➠ E = 1.8 = 10¹⁸ J
