As we know
Nitrate =
total no of proton = atomic number
= 7 + 8
= 15p
now as there is a negative charge so total no of electron = total no. of proton + |charge|
= 15 + |-1|
= 16e
now as Netron + Proton = mass no.
then 14 = 7 + n(for nitrogen)
16 = 8+ n ( for oxygen)
there for total no. of netron = 8+7 = 15n
