this is a very easy question

here is the solution.................

mean = sum of observations / no . of observations

the observations are 3, 5, p and 9 and the no . of observations are 4

=> 3+5+p+9 / 4 = 6

=> 17 +p = 6*4

=> 17 +p =24

p=24-17

p = 7

hence value of p is 7
