Calculate the velocity at which the mass of particle becomes 8 times its rest mass.

Mass is constant -_+

(classically).

According to Special relativity,

m = m0 / √1 - v²/c²

(mass velocity variation)

Here m refers to dynamic (changed mass)

m0 - rest mass,

c is velocity of light in vacuum.

So according to question,

=) m = 8m0

=) 8 m0 = m0/ / √1 - v²/c²

=) 8 = 1/ √1 - v²/c²

=) 8² = 1/1 - v²/c²

=) 1 - v²/c² = 1/64

=) 1 - 1/64 = v²/c²

=) 63/64 = v²/c²

=) (63/64)½ = v/c

=) v = (63/64)½ × c

=) v = 0.9844½ × 3*10^8 m/s

=) v = 0.992 × 3*10^8 m/s

=) v = 2.976 * 10^8 m/s.
