Answer :
Mass of ethane = 60g
We have to find volume of the given amount of ethane at STP
★ Molecular formula :
- C₂H₆
★ Molar mass :
⭆ 2(C) + 6(H)
⭆ 2(12) + 6(1)
⭆ 24 + 6
⭆ 30 g/mol
∴ 30 g of ethane occupies 22.4L volume at STP
Volume occupied by 60g of ethane at STP,
- V = 60/30 × 22.4
- V = 2 × 22.4
- V = 44.8 L
★ Remember :
➠ 1m³ = 1000L
➠ 1dm³ = 1L
➠ 1cm³ = 1mL
∴ Volume of ethane at STP = 44.8dm³

Volume of 60 g of Ethane at STP:
- Moles of Ethane = 60/30 = 2 moles.
Now, we know that:
- 1 mole of gas occupies 22.4 litres volume at STP.
So, 2 moles of Ethane will occupy :
- Now, 1 litre = 1 dm³ (please remember this conversion).
- So, volume of Ethane = 44.8 dm³.
