To Find :

Volume of 10M HCl solution required to prepare 250mL of a 5M HCl solution.

Solution :

Name : Molarity

Symbol : M

Definition : Number of moles of solute dissolved in one litre (or one dm³) of solution.

Effect of temperature : Changes with change in temperature

Formula :

\dag\:\underline{\boxed{\bf{\purple{M=\dfrac{Moles\:of\:solute}{Volume\:of\:solute\:in\:L}}}}}

In this case, moles of solute remains constant so we can say that, M₁V₁ = M₂V₂

By substituting the values;

➠ M₁ × V₁ = M₂ × V₂

➠ 5 × 250 = 10 × V₂

➠ V₂ = 1250/10

V₂ = 125mL

(A) is the correct answer!
