Answer:
a combustion reaction of a hydro-carbon is governed by the reaction:
CxHy + (x + y/4) O2 = xCO2 + y/2 H2O
While the Hydrocarbon is Ethane , x=2 and y=6 .
Hence the reaction can be written as:
C2H6 + 3.5 O2 = 2 CO2 + 3 H2O
or, 2C2H6 + 7O2 = 4CO2 + 6 H20
So 1 mol of Ethane will evolve 2 moles of CO2, ie, 30 gms of ethane will evolve 2*22.4 l of CO2 at STP, so for 150 gms it is 2*5*22.4= 224 l of CO2.
