we have to calculate the volume of O2 required to oxidize one litre of C6H6 under identical condition. and also have to calculate the volume of CO2 formed.

solution : we know, every hydrocarbon reacting with oxygen forms Carbon dioxide and water.

so, C6H6 + 15/2O2 => 6CO2 + 3H2O

here you see, one mole of C6H6 reacts with 15/2 moles of Oxygen.

so, 22.4 L of C6H6 reacts with 15/2 × 22.4 L of oxygen.

⇒1 L of C6H6 reacts with 15/2 L of oxygen.

Therefore 7.5 L of oxygen is required to oxidize 1 L of C6H6.

now, 1 moles of C6H6 forms 6 moles of CO2.

so, 22.4 L of C6H6 forms 6 × 22.4 L of CO2

so, 1 L of C6H6 forms 6 L of CO2.

Therefore the volume of CO2 formed is 6L.
