Calculate the water height h in the trench for a given water surface F!
A trench has the following cross-section:
y = - \cos(x) {}^{2}
How high is the water in the trench when the water surface is F ?

We are looking for h(F) with F =1m²

Given :

Curve : y = -cos(x^2)

To Find :

area under the curve , from x  = -1.5 to x  = 1.5

Explanation:
Area under the curve = 2 x area under the half curve

=  2 *|\int\limits^\frac{3}{2} _0 {-cos(x^2)} \, dx |

==>       \int\ {cos(x^2)} \, dx  = -\sqrt(\pi/2) C(\sqrt(2/\pi) x)

= 2 * 0.899185 =  1.79837

Hence ,

1.79837m high is the water in the trench when the water surface is F = 1m^2
