Given :

Bandgap of given semiconductor GaAs Eg = 3 eV

To find :

The wavelength of emitted light from GaAs semiconductor

Solution :

We know, wavelength of light emitted from GaAs semiconductor laser is

λ = hc/Eg

Here, h is Planck's Constant and c is speed of light.

h = 6.626 × 10 ^-34

c = 3 × 10^8 m/s

We get,

  =  \frac{6.626 \times 10 {}^{ - 34} \times 3 \times 10 {}^{8} }{4.8 \times 10 {}^{ - 19} }

 = 4.14 \:  \times 10 {}^{ - 7} m

Thus, the wavelength of light emitted from GaAs semiconductor laser is 4.14 μm
