Given : Weight of water : 54 grams

Reaction of production of water : H2 + 1/2O2 --> H2O

Find : Weight of oxygen required to produce 54 gram of water.

Solution : Number of moles of water required : 54/18

Number of moles of water : 3

As per given reaction, 1 mole of water will be formed by 0.5 moles of oxygen.

Hence 3 moles of water will form by : 0.5*3 = 1.5 moles of oxygen.

Weight of oxygen : 1.5*32

Weight of oxygen : 48 gram.

Thus, the amount of oxygen required for production of 54 grams of water is 48 gram.
