We know that Work done = Force*Displacement* cosθ
- Here force is the gravitational force acting on the satellite,
- Displacement is along the circular orbit,
- θ is the angle between force and displacement vector.
Since force acts in the perpendicular direction (towards the center of the earth) from the displacement vector (along the circular orbit)
Therefore cos θ = cos 90° = 0
Work done = 0
Therefore work done by gravity on the satellite will be 0.
