Given:

  • Mass of car, m = 1500 kg

  • Velocity of car, v = 60 km/h

To be calculated:

Calculate the work required to be done to stop a car ?

Formula used:

Kinetic energy = 1/2 mv²

Solution:

Velocity of car, v = 60 km/h

= 60 × 1000 / 60 × 60

= 100 / 6

= 50 / 3 ms‐¹

Now,

Kinetic energy = 1/2 mv²

★ Putting the values in the above formula,we get

kinetic energy = 1/2 × 1500 × ( 50/3 )²

= 1/2 × 1500 × 2500/9

= 1500 × 2500 / 18

= 3,750,000 / 18

= 208,333.3 joules ( approx )
