There are 5 and a half hours from 10am to 3:30pm. And in my opinion the easiest way to figure that out is with military time. If you happen to know that 3pm is the same a 15:00 in military time, then the math is as simple as 15.5 - 10. I am not super well versed in military time myself, but all it takes is knowing a few key times and you can learn the others based on that. In my case, of the top of my head, I know 3pm = 15:00, 6pm = 18:00 and 8pm = 20:00, so figuring out the others when I am not actively thinking about it is just simple math.
