Explanation:

By definiation , 5 volume H2O2 solutions means that 1 L of 5 volume H2O2 solution on decomposition produces 5 L of O2 at NTP.

Consider the decompositon reaction,

2H2O2→2H2O+O2

2×34g→22.7 L at NTP

Now 22.7 L O2 at NTP will be obtained from H2O2 =68 g

∴5L of O2 at NTP will be obtained from H2O2=68×522.7g

=14.98g=15g

But 5 L of O2 at NTP is produced from 1 L of 5 volume H2O2

∴ Strength of H2O2 solution =15gL−1

or percentage strength of H2O2 solution =151000×100=1.5%
